Our purpose is to aid in the prevention of crime, the reduction of criminal opportunity and the furtherance of Community Policing activities within the Commonwealth.
The Massachusetts Crime Prevention Officers’ Association is committed to the following goals:
- To provide all citizens within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts with an awareness of their responsibility to prevent criminality and acts of crime.
- To create an awareness of the concepts of crime prevention throughout society, e.g., home, school, church, civic organizations, and the business community.
- To influence the academic community towards educational processes to aid in the prevention of criminality and the reduction of criminal opportunity
- To promote the acceptance of the concepts of crime prevention throughout the Criminal Justice System
- To promote within the state and local government, an awareness on the part of its representatives toward their responsibility of crime prevention.
- To promote confidence in the public towards its law enforcement agencies.
- To promote within the law enforcement agencies the positive effects of crime prevention techniques as it relates to the “Community Policing” goals of the departments.
